PB Bourbon Burger

Peanut Butter Bourbon Bacon Jam Burger

It's a burger that has bourbon and a brioche bun as ingredients. Juicy, sweet, savory, meaty, hearty, fatty and just flat out delicious. This has sriracha ketchup on it if you like that sort of thing. The flavors balance out with the sweet and the heat. You can exclude if you'd like. No, I did not make the brioche but maybe one day. Bread making is not a talent of mine. Oh.. by the way, the bourbon is peanut butter flavor.. just go and read how to make this. You won't regret biting into this. maybe take a glass of bourbon with it if you're feeling.. frisky.

Ingredients

- 3/4 pound ground beef

- 1/4 pound ground pork

- Bacon, 6 slices (2 per each burger)

- 6 slices of American or Colby Jack cheese

- Salt, pepper, burger seasoning If you wish

- 4 brioche buns

- Sriracha ketchup (sriracha and ketchup mixed together) a full pound of ground beef if you prefer

For Bacon Jam

- 8 slices of sliced bacon - cut into smaller pieces

- 1/4 cup Peanut Butter Bourbon (I love Screwball PB)

- Brown sugar

- 1/2 onion, small dice

- 2 tbsp maple syrup

- Salt to taste

What To Do

Step 1 - Make sure your buns are cut in half. Set buns aside for now. Prep dicing the 1/2 onion.  Heat a pan on medium heat. Once bacon is cut put in the pan and let cook until it starts to get darker. 2 minutes into cooking the bacon add in the diced onion. Let cook for about another 5 minutes. Add in brown sugar, maple syrup and salt. Simmer for about 50 minutes to an hour until it has come thick but also smooth.

Step 2 - Mix together ketchup and sriracha and set aside for later. Cook bacon slices over medium to medium high heat and set aside. Keep your bacon fat. Now, prepare your burger meat.

Step 3 - Mix together both meats with salt, pepper, burger seasoning of any sort if you wish. Form 3-4 patties. (I did 3 and those boys were thick) The pan you used for your bacon place on medium high heat - place your burgers in the pan. Let cook about 7-10 minutes on each side (we like medium rare, cook to your desired temp) top with cheese, let melt.

Step 4 - Once burgers are done get rid of any excess grease. Lay burgers on a plate to get ready to assemble. Lightly toast your brioche buns in the same pan you cooked your burgers in. Once done, let's put together.

Step 5 - Bottom bun first, a dollop of bacon jam, burger, bacon slices, sriracha ketchup, top bun, bite, and .. enjoy.

Chef's Notes

- Okay, not the healthiest. But sometimes, it's needed.

- Bacon jam is underrated. Put it on toast, or a crostini with crumbled goat cheese.

- Vegan? Sub for a beyond or an impossible burger. Use vegan bacon and vegan cheese. Make it vegan.
