Chocolate Cookie Butter Rice Krispies

These protein packed rice krispie treats are made with chocolate cookie butter and a peanut butter drizzle.

If you're looking for a chocolatey, sweet treat then you have come to the right place. It's in the category for healthy-ish and surprisingly enough chocolate is good for you. Coming from a cacao tree, the seeds inside is what chocolate is made from. It has a very strong smell and not usually what you would expect from actually smelling chocolate.

So why does peanut butter and chocolate go well together? I guess the extra fats and flavors in both tend to give off a richness for your tastebuds when needed.

Ingredients

- 2 3/4 cup Chocolate Rice Krispies
- 2 tbsp butter
- 3/4 cup Trader Joe's Chocolate Cookie Butter
- 1/4 chocolate chips (semi sweet or dark chocolate)
- 1/4 cup sugar free maple syrup (or real maple syrup)
- 1 scoop/serving of chocolate protein powder
- Peanut butter for drizzle
- Chocolate chunks or chips for on top (optional)

What To Do..

Step 1 - Line a 9x9 baking sheet with parchment paper. Heat a medium size pot over medium heat and melt the cookie butter and butter together. Stir in syrup, then protein powder and remove from heat.

Step 2 - Mix in the Rice Krispies until all combined and then mix in chocolate chips. Spread out evenly in the baking dish and refrigerate for 45 minutes - 1 hour.

Step 3 - Once completely cool, melt peanut butter in the microwave for 30 seconds. Take a spoon and drizzle over the top. If you would like chocolate chunks in there you can put them in before or after the peanut butter drizzle.

Step 4 - Cut into 9 pieces and enjoy!

Chef's Notes

- Sub out the chocolate protein powder for vanilla protein powder.

- Drizzle chocolate sauce instead of peanut butter on top.

- You can use the original Rice Krispie cereal.
